Special event to mark The Armistice
Local Suffolk poets Richard Whiting and Derek Adams have organised an event of particular interest for this marking of the end of WW1.
The current owners of the house (then named Belle Vue) Blunden once inhabited in Stansfield, Suffolk after the war in the 1920s, have made it available for a poetry reading on Sunday 11 November.
The house has special significance as it was where Sassoon visited Edmund and Mary and their two children Clare and John. There are letters in the Selected Letters of Siegfried Sassoon and Edmund Blunden (edited by Carol Z. Rothkopf) which make reference to the visit.
Poems by Blunden and Sassoon will be read. Other poets of the war will be remembered by members of the Bury St Edmunds Poetry Group. There will also be a brief talk by Margi Blunden about the friendship between Siegfried and Edmund.
